DAY 34: No WiFi Makes Liz A Very Agitated Girl.........

DAY 34:  Estes Park, CO - August 3, 2010
AGHHHHHHHHHHHH....
We have NOOOOOOOO Internet.....
We have NOOOOOOOO Cell Phones.......
It appears that Estes Park isn’t “Verizon-Friendly” at all and the RV park we are staying in, along with 90% of the town, are having WiFi issues.......AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Don’t get me wrong; it’s not that I can’t live without WiFi......okay, maybe it is.....but I have to continue working while we are on the road and things like BILLS, PAYROLL TAX DEPOSITS, BILLS, PRESCRIPTION REFILLS FOR MOM, BILLS (sorry I was yelling)........have to be made and I cannot do this without Wifi.......Plus.....how can I take you guys along with me if I can’t communicate with ya???
We’ve been without internet since about Saturday, so today we went in search for Wifi.....
First stop was Safeway.  There is this huge sign on the door of Safeway that says they have FREE wifi.......so loaded the Chuckster up and headed to Safeway.  This seemingly was a good choice cause he really likes to shop for food.....but it wasn’t to be.....their Wifi was down too.  So I left Chuck at Safeway and went across the parking lot to McDonalds that also was suppose to have Wifi.  Of course their Wifi wasn’t working either, BUT......I was able to get my Verizon MiFi card to actually work there.....it hasn’t worked anywhere other than the place next to the creek staring at the mule plow......but it worked at McDonalds!!!!  Unfortunately, it wasn’t charged completely up and within 15 minutes, went dead.  But I did get the Payroll Tax Deposit made!!!  YEA!
As I searched around McDonalds for a wall plug to no avail, this sweet man sitting there eating his breakfast watching me fluttering about McDonalds with a panicked look on my face, took compassion on me, handed me a business card with the name of an Inn that he and his wife owned up the road a few miles and told me to head up there and tell his wife that he had sent me and I could use their Wifi service.  I have been amazed how absolutely nice and “happy” the people here in Colorado are.......
After practically kissing his feet, off I went.......I seriously considered going back to Safeway and picking up Chuck, but then went “Nah......” as I headed about 3 miles up the road to a beautiful Inn called Aspen Winds Resort.  This place was right on the Fall River and within spitting distance of the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance.  It was beautiful!!  I found the wife, told her about my conversation with her husband (she totally didn’t seem surprised...), and she graciously set me up on the porch with a plug outlet and fast internet!!  Whoooo Hoooo....I was in business!!  I had brought my work with me, paid all the bills, quickly opened email to see 160 non-junk emails waiting on me, answered the ones that couldn’t wait, and finished up my business.  Had a few minutes to talk with this lovely couple who owned this Inn and knew instantly the good Lord had arranged for this “chance” meeting.  If we didn’t have an RV, we would definitely be staying with them!  And you should to, if you ever find yourself in Estes Park!  Lovely, lovely people.......
So here I am, late in the day on our 34th day on the road without internet and cell phone service......but that’s okay; maybe it was meant to happen this way.  What I do know is we’ll be having dinner at McDonalds tonight with a freshly charged internet card!!
P.S.  This picture is Charlie “trying” to talk with his brother, Doug.  Their conversation went something like this, “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?  WHAT ABOUT NOW?  HELLO??  HOW ABOUT NOW?  CAN YOU HEAR ME?  DOUG??  ARE YOU THERE??  DOUG...........”

I am soooo happy to hear from you again. I was having withdrawals from not being able to read your blogs. J Keep on truckin’ (or bik’n) and I will read more from you tomorrow.

P.S. Maybe I will be able to go see the waterfalls sometime, they sound really awesome!

Please advise if any questions or you need anything.

Thank you.
