Have A Little Sense of Humor This Thanksgiving.....

Happy Thanksgiving
November 24, 2011

"You know that just before that first Thanksgiving dinner,
there was one wise,
old Native American woman saying,
"Don't feed them.  If you feed them, they'll never leave."
Dylan Brody

Well friends, I'm sure right now you are either........
a) Frantically cooking in the kitchen in your PJ's with screaming kids everywhere.....
b) Chilling out in your favorite chair next to a fire waiting to meet the family at Luby's.....
c) Preparing to take half the pecans off the top of the pecan pie (cause you hate pecans!) you bought at Costco that you're scheduled to bring to the Thanksgiving meal.....

Yep, you guessed it......I'm doing c) above today!

This crazy, hectic time of year always reminds me of the things that really matter the most to me.....such as how thankful I am for the difficult people in my life.....cause they show me exactly who I don't want to be.  I'm thankful to all those who said NO to me over the course of my life so far.......And I'm thankful for those people who came into my life as Blessings......and all the others who came in as Life Lessons.

So......after 18 hours of preparation has been eaten in 12 minutes (is it just me or is it ironic that that is the same amount of time as half-time??) and everyone is sitting with their pants unzipped and the sounds of burps are heard over the stupid Dallas Cowboy game, this is what Liz plans on doing.....

I plan on going to a parking lot somewhere and putting sticky notes on people's cars saying "Sorry for the Damage"....then sitting back, eating my pecanless pecan pie, laughing hysterically........

Yep, that's what I'm thankful for......

Sticky Notes.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow."

Tell me what you did with the pecans? I am so full I can hardly breathe but when you talked about those candied pecans from the pie, I started to drool ....shame on me. But I am right there with you on the sticky notes...especially on other people's cars with "sorry for the damage"......they probably spent 30 minutes discussing whether that rust spot was the "damage".....what a trip!

Talk about people being grateful and thankful ....there was this lady writer who would get out of bed in the morning and would say "thank you" with her marching steps to the bathroom to pee......I have adapted that to a fast trot, same mumbling to get there before I pee on myself! They call it "urge something" and they named it correctly.....a definite urge! I ate with Carol and she had two mentally retarded women with her and no one was watching a ballgame as none of us understand the game! You have as the header "Have a little sense of humor" .....if it came with butter on it, I probably two or three of them!....and they are drifting down to my thighs as a type....oh well! have a good one! I love you all lots and lots.

My Dear Liz!
As usual you made my day.

Our wonderful Chris went & did it to me again (4 years running) inviting every lonely/single person in the park for Thanksgiving dinner. This year he bought a 25 lb. TURKEY!!!!! Well, I wanted to allow enough time to cook this sucker, high altitude cooking proves to to be mostly guess work when it comes to cook time on everything. I had a meltdown when the turkey was done hours before the guests were to arrive Chris called everyone to come 2 hours earlier, & saved the day. NEVER AGAIN, please remind me next year, my memory is short when it comes to painful generosity...

The best part of the day EVERYONE BROUGHT A VILLAGE INN PIE & A BOTTLE OF WINE. I drank plenty of wine to relax & Chris did the clean-up, Yahoo...........

Now, let get ready for Christmas
Love Ya!
