Broken-Hip-Charlie - Day 10

DAY 10
BROKEN-HIP-CHARLIE

It's been a loooooong 10 days......

As most of you know, my Charlie (Chuck) fell 10 days ago at home while staining some shutters and broke his hip, but what most of you don't know is the miracle that happened immediately afterwards.....

I was in Brenham, Texas when he fell; some 5 hours away.  Because we live in the country, there was no one around to help him or hear him call out for help.  He figures he layed in the road about 30 minutes before a truck finally made its way down our short, dead-end road.  The guy driving the truck claimed to be an exterminator in the area who was lost and had forgotton where the house he was suppose to exterminate was located.  He stopped and offered to help Charlie by calling a neighbor down the road who was home.  Our neighbors, Troy and Becky, hurried down and, with the help of the mystery exterminator, helped Charlie into his wheelchair and rushed him to the hospital.

Ready for the miracle??

In our part of the world, everyone knows everyone.....we know the exterminators in our area and the exterminators know their way around the lake.  Our neighbors had never seen this guy before; he had no identification on him; and how is it he didn't remember whose house he was suppose to be going to?  As quickly as he came; he was gone......never heard from again.

Had he not come along when he did, Charlie could and most likely would have layed out in the road for a long, long time.  Our mystery exterminator angel is the miracle of this story......and our neighbors, Troy and Becky, are the hero's.

And as for Charlie post-10 days-broken-hip?  He has turned a wide corner......

His pain is now under control......

He is getting stronger each and every day.......

His rehab is going beautifully.....and the 3 alarms currently attached to him, his bed and the pillow due to his insistence (stubborness) on getting up by himself without calling the nurse, will hopefully soon be removed.

It's going to be a long road ahead........but not near as long as it would have been without our exterminator-angel.

Dear Liz & Chuck,

I believe it was a miracle. I believe in angels -- they come when they're most needed and least expected. Chuck, by the way, looks great! He and you both have such a beautiful spirits: they just shine through.

I know you both will come through this with renewed faith. Know that you are surrounded by friends who adore you.

Our love and kiss to Chuck,

Sandee & Larry

He is so blessed!!! Please tell Chuck I will try to see him in a few weeks. Feel terrible I haven't been there for either of you. Jan and Cissie arrive tomorrow until next Wednesday. I do have to work the following Saturday but maybe can drive down just for the day on Sunday or Monday of the following week.

Keep me posted on his progress. So pleased he is improving.

Love,
Carla

Well Liz, I am sure by now you know who's in charge.....Call upon me on the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. Ps 50: 15 Give Chuck a bear hug for me if you can, and tell him he's in good hands. And from across the prairie I send you both my love....and again Happy is the man who's God is the Lord.

Angels can appear in any disguise...and this sure sounds like a miracle. I am so glad
his pain is under control. Thank heaven for alarms....but the fact that he is able to
try to get out of bed and feels that much better is another miracle.......you just cannot keep a good guy down, like Charlie! It doesn't seem like 10 days....probably it does to Charlie and to you too! Prayers have been answered....progress is occurring!
Hope you have a restful Memorial Day. I don't think the therapists take the day off....unfortunately! Just hang in there......this too shall pass!
Love to you both lots and lots

Yes, it has been a LOOOOOONG 10 days I am sure for him and you!!!! Just remember, we love you and wish we could do something at this point to help either or both of you. We feel absolutely helpless, but know that closer loved ones and family, neighbors, that love you as much will fill in the gaps when we won’t be there to relieve your stress or pain. God, we love you for doing everything in your power with the help of angels, doctors, nurses, friends, neighbors, and family to help our beloved Chuck and Liz. I personally, think that he sent two angels, one of them being you, Liz, to bless his life in so many ways and be there for him in time of need, and when you can’t ALWAYS be there, he fills in with OTHERS (the exterminator, for example). As my grandson would say, “What a GUY”.
Our love always,
Bonnie and Dick
