Monday, June 1 – Clinton, OK
10:00 am
We finally left....late...due to trouble with the straps on the motorcycle, but finally made it out of Mt. Vernon. Chuck had planned on us stopping at Red Rock Canyon State Park about 40 miles east of here, but once we got there, it was more geared for smaller campers, no pass-thru’s available, but the absolutely WORST part was the steeeeeeeep; did I mention STEEP, hill down to the park. I kept thinking; what goes down must come up and I wasn’t too sure we could do it. But we did and got the heck out of there.
6:30 pm
After trying two other private campgrounds that looked like something out of S. Dallas, we kept moving on. Ended up in Clinton, OK which made it a 365 mile day that started late at 10:00 am. Since we are so long with the trailer (about 52’ long), there was only one spot that would work and it “barely” worked. Actually, we’ll know better tomorrow morning whether it actually worked or not and that will depend on whether we hit anything.....fingers crossed...
