DAY 74: Goodbye Moab, Utah.....Hello Durango, CO - September 11, 2010
Well, I know you guys have been waiting anxiously by your computers to see whether I made it out of the RV park successfully without any more dents, dings or broken mirrors.....right??
The answer is........YES YES YES......I did it! But not without the help of the neighbor across from us moving his truck; the neighbor next door guiding me on one side of the RV while Chuck guided me on the other side; the neighbor on the opposite side was too scared to stay for fear I might hit his RV so he just took his RV and left.....and the whole neighborhood applauded once I was safely out of our spot and away from their rigs's........
But before the harrowing departure, it was "Shave Chuck's Neck Hairs Day" (he's going to kill me when he reads this....). I proceeded to shave L-I-Z on his neck......
We hadn't been on the road long at all when we ran across this "Hole In The Rock" money maker establishment.......they saved plenty of money by not putting up a sign; just simply spray painted the name on the rock with the hole in it.....I have no idea what this was about, but I did see a lot of Japanese travelers in their rented RV's had pulled over and were paying to see the hole in the rock.....
And about halfway to Durango, my navigator....you know, Mr. No-Neck-Hair Chuck, told me we needed to turn ahead on Hwy. 666.......When I mapped this out last night, I didn't remember seeing anything about a Hwy. 666, and trust me, I would have remembered that! So, I just figured he was pulling my leg or trying to creep me out...... But sure enough, there it was.....old Hwy. 666 was now the new Hwy. 491. That's just creepy.......
Made it to the Durango KOA, parked the RV and proceeded to find out what a neat place this KOA campground was.....they make pizza's every evening for the guests (oops, they stopped doing that after Labor Day weekend).....and they fix pancake breakfasts each morning for everyone...(Uhhh, that stopped Labor Day weekend too).....and they have a Social Hour every evening...(oh wait.....yep....that stopped after Labor Day). You're pretty much on your own here after Labor Day....
But tomorrow.....TOMORROW.....Big Day! We hit the Million Dollar Highway, baby........just you wait...if we make it back home from that....I'll have some FABULOUS pictures to show ya! In the meantime, check out what we'll be doing tomorrow.....

Looks like the drop off from hell....no guardrails....what were they thinking? How can you view the sights if your eyes are peeled onto that edge? Looks like desert to me and a bottomless pit at that....I am going to be praying all day for your safety. Do be extra careful.
that former road sign is a distinct warning. But it is o.k. to have fun....just real slow and over
next to the wall. I love you both.

That road with no guard rails scares the hell out of me just looking at it!!! I can’t imagine driving an RV down it!!! You’re one brave girl!
