Goodbye Colorado.....
Hello Vernal, Utah!!!
Guess how we picked Vernal, Utah......Go ahead...GUESS!??!
Give up?? We opened up our large, laminated truckers map we got at Flying J for a discounted $9.99; closed our eyes; and dropped our finger on Vernal, Utah. And here we are.......!!!
Well, Vernal isn't just a weird name, no siree......it's actually "known" for stuff. Stuff like being the only city in the U.S. of its size that does not have a railway........AND........dinosaurs!!!!!
We are within spitting distance to Dinosaur National Monument; the Dinosaur Diamond Utah, the Prehistoric National Scenic Byway; Dinosaurland AND they have a Dinosaur Round-Up Rodeo each year.....not to mention we're not far from the Flaming Gorge, most likely put there by the dinosaurs!.
Anyway, "sad" is not a word I would use to describe leaving our campground in Steamboat Springs. It was dirty, noisy, muddy and just downright gross. The trash was always overflowing and the dude next to us from Norway, driving a Cruise America Rental RV, decided he wanted to put HIS sewer hose in OUR sewer hole, so he just took OUR sewer hose out and layed it on the ground next to the hole he just stole.
It was time to leave.......
But today, as we arrived in beautiful Vernal, with its big shade trees, grass and quiet neighbors, we moved the motorhome no less than 6 times trying to get it in the exact perfect position to allow for all 4 slides and awning to be retracted. Once we had it perfect, we realized our sewer hose wouldn't reach the hole. Soooooo......started all over again.......Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
Anyway, can't wait to show you pictures of this beautiful place and the massive amount of dinosaurs........
Question: How come all the dinosaurs congregated in Vernal??

Hi Liz,
When I was 14 my family took another driving vacation; part Yellowstone and part Utah. I don't remember a thing about Vernal but I still remember the dinosaur national park/dig. It was very cool. Congrats on your scientific method of choosing destinations!! :D
Much love,
Regina
I really love you. You have such a way to bring a smile on my face. Thank you so much for using
your God given gifts so well.
And when you share with us some of the realities of your life ( such as Norwegian neighbors. Lol) it helps us to laugh at our "Norwegian neighbors" lol
Love

Easy. All the roads out there look the same."
Hope to see pics of sunrise/sunset of Flaming Gorge.........only 4 weeks till Labor Day weekend!

P.S. it has continued to rain almost every day since you left us
The answer to your question: The Chamber of Commerce developed this story to
get notoriety! And someone somewhere nearby probably found some big bones....
but I am sure you are going to tell me more and I am waiting on the edge of my
chair to know! It must be a lower elevation, or the Texas heat almost caught up
to you! stay cool and have fun...I love your blog and I love you both lots and lots.

I have been meaning to ask the name of the Stmbt. campground. What was it? And was it on the west side of town? Was it the only one there?
This has me very curious!!!!! Because this just is the pits to hear about!!!! Hope you enjoyed some of the scenery! (and thanks for the house pics!!)
Vernal??????? Only drove thru there...going to SLC!!!
I'm really envious! You're in some of my favorite countryside. Used to go that way to Kremmling because it was such a treat. Glad you got out of the last place o.k. It's a shame there is always one of those somewhere.
Things going well here - except for the heat. Getting tired of it, and worry for the farmers, but keep praying for God to take care of them. Thanks for all the news. Love ya' both. Nyla
