The Day She Turned 18

TODAY.......is this Precious girl's 18th Birthday!!!!

She is one of the funnest, most mature 18 year-olds this Lele has ever met!

She has experienced a lot of pain through surgeries in those short 18 years with few complaints.....

She has held her head up high, worked extra hard to stay in physical condition so as to stay well.....

She has agreed to Dinner Dates with her Lele when I feel sure she would have rather been out with her friends...

She is fiercely independent....

And she is my beautiful Granddaughter....

HAPPPY 18TH, My Sweet Brie-Brie.....Your Lele loves you so very very much!

Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain

 904 Charles River Ct.

(Click Above)

Back in June of 2020, I shared with my friends a quote I once saw on a piece of wood in a Branson, MO store. It said:

“Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain”

I remember standing there staring at it thinking, "Those are the words I've been waiting five years to see". At the time, I had just completed a drought in my life that had lasted five long years. A drought that consisted of, ironically, a flood....cancer.....anxiety.....and death.

I was at a cross-roads at the moment I saw that piece of wood with those words on it.....and I felt a powerful shift about to happen in my life. It felt like God was moving me out of Neutral and into Drive. I felt like Job, Chapter 43.

SPOILER ALERT: There is no Chapter 43 in the Old Testament book of Job. After 41 chapters of watching Satan test this man Job to his max.....taking his children, his wealth, his health....everything he ever loved (well, except that cranky wife of his), we find him happy and thankful as we turn the page to Chapter 42. He is blessed because he endured the storm of Satan and now finds his life has been restored with double what he had before....because he never gave up on God.

And like Job, God had restored to me everything He allowed to be taken during my time of testing. My toes were no longer dangling off the edge of a cliff as they once were. I was no longer begging Him for rescue from the rainstorms in the corner of a closet and I was standing at the start of a new chapter. Little did I know that God was leading and preparing me to return back home to Dallas after almost 20 years in Mt. Vernon. I was more shocked than anyone.

So He found me the perfect house.....a dreamy house on a short little Disneyland-looking block on a cul-de-sac in a gorgeous neighborhood. And I reluctantly moved.....

It took about 6 months before I discovered “why” God moved me back to the Dallas area. His name was Wayne.

These past few months, we have been quietly building “Our” house in Mansfield....an hour south of where God moved me more than two years ago. We are now at the point of placing a For Sale sign in the front yard of this beautiful home God so graciously loaned me. Homes tend to go fast in this neighborhood of 33 homes, so I wanted to share it with you first in the event you knew someone looking for the perfect home.

I will never stop thanking God for placing me here......for gifting me with His Will and not my own. I am living proof that every storm does indeed run out of rain.

Couples Adventure Challenge #6

COUPLES ADVENTURE CHALLENGE #6 is Officially In The Books!!

We removed the roof of the Jeep, turned on the heater, and headed an hour northwest to........PILOT POINT, TX.

The Couples Adventure Challenge #6 said,

"Find a small town or area at least 15 miles away that you have never been to or spent much time in."

Checkmark. Neither of us had been there. Yet.

"Go and find a small restaurant there and have dinner (Leave the waiter a big tip!)" it said next.

Our friend, Cindy Fulton, told us about this great restaurant there called BeBo's, so as we were Googling BeBo's, we discovered Pilot Point was also having a major festival this weekend! SCORE!

Turns out, this sweet little town of 4,381 was used for a major Hollywood movie back in the 60's called....wait for it.....Bonnie & Clyde....with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. OH YAAAA....this is a BIG stinkin' deal here....and in small town Texas, this requires a festival!! So, each year in October, they have Bonnie & Clyde Days Festival!! WHOO HOO.....and go figure, we accidentally picked the exact weekend to visit PILOT POINT!

"Find a local park, take a walk, and talk about what you assume the town's history is; create a backstory for it and rename the town" the Couples Adventure Challenged us to do.

So while sitting at BeBo's enjoying catfish and burgers and getting to know the entire Bebo's family (including the dog), we decided Pilot Point's name should be changed to BeBo's Point (you saw that coming, didn't ya?). Why you ask? Because when we pulled into the parking lot, we saw a real plane that appeared to have "crash landed" in the ditch next to the BeBo's parking lot. We naturally assumed BeBo must have been the pilot....(get it..."PILOT" POINT??) and he was "Pointing" his plane in the direction of his famous restaurant when he crashed.

So, there you have it! We had a FABULOUS day of meeting the people of BeBo's Point, checking out the vendors on the Square, watching a live re-enactment of Bonnie & Clyde, getting a chai latte at the Pilot Point Coffee House and watching Soap Box Challenges racing down Main Street.

It was just like being in Mt. Vernon again and rooting for the turtle races, Petapalooza and vintage car shows! Welcome to Small Town Texas in October!!

And before we knew it, Adventure #6 was complete with a minimum of 150 pictures to prove it!! Can hardly wait to uncover #7 and see whats next!!

Ohhh...and just in case you were wondering, we did indeed give our waitress a mighty BIGGGGG tip!!
