DAY 37: Flaming Gorge Day.....

DAY 37:  Flaming Gorge, Utah
TEMP:  Ok, I'll admit it was 91 Degrees today

Today we waved good-bye to our Morman neighbors on the right, Dan and Pat, as they headed home to Salt Lake City, and picked up some RV tips from our Morman neighbors on the left, Randy and Donna.  Yep, Chuck and Liz were sandwiched between two of the nicest Morman couples you could ever ask to be neighbors with.  Afterall, we ARE in Utah!!

Our Morman neighbor on the left, Randy, seems to be one of the happiest people I've ever met....always smiling......even when he ran over the water faucet pulling into his RV site with his 40' motorhome.  Unfortunately, they had to shut the water down to the entire park until they had it fixed a few hours later.  And he was even smiling when telling us about the eagle that flew into his windshield on the way here.  He currently has his windshield all taped up and ready to be replaced when he gets home. Did I mention this is his THIRD windshield??

Once the goodbye's were said, we jumped on the trike and headed the 41 miles north to the Flaming Gorge.  We "finally" got there after losing one skull cap (Chuck) on the highway and having to turn around TWICE and head back to the RV for stuff we had forgotten.......

The first "shock and awe" we came across once we arrived at the Flaming Gorge was the Cart Creek Suspension Bridge you cross just before getting to the Flaming Gorge Dam.  I was hoping to "feel" it swinging as we crossed it on the trike, but no such luck.  It didn't budge an inch.....

And then we saw it........the Flaming Gorge Dam.  Care to hear about some "Dam Facts"?  Didn't think so.....just thought it would be cool to say "Dam Facts".......Plus, Chuck and I fell asleep while they were showing us a video on how the dam was made, so we really don't know much about it.  Woke up just as the credits were rolling....

We did learn, though, that this Flaming Gorge (not to be confused with the Royal Gorge in Colorado....where they "Royally Gorge" you price-wise.......very appropriate name!), is really really long........It goes on forever....like forever into Wyoming........And I will admit that the picture here isn't "mine".....I borrowed it from my friend "Google".....

Oh ya, almost forgot; we also saw an extremely OBESE chipmunk....

The 91 degree temp was probably because you were down in a gorge with no breeze or altitude. That chip monk looks a little angry....ya'll be careful, no rabid varments!
Love to both, ant ellie
